Chapter 2, Part I: The journey

[From Bos' log]

We got the call- a drone army is infiltrating one of our remote stations. We were awaiting a call from Zibelia letting us know that he found the station on our radar.

The cockpit's transmission screen lit up a few minutes later:

[Message from Martinus Zibelia, MMg]

The station has been traced via a security breach at the remote station at Nibiru VI in the Kalax system. The trip should take between 10 and 12 Tranquilian hours.

[end message]

(By the way, that's about a day in your Earth hours.)

The entire ADJ was lodged with me in a team-sized dropship. I was assigned to the navigation station, helping Rhey stay on course via a few peripheral screens and an eSextant. We did hit a few intermittent rocky spots (like an asteroid belt, and, oh yes, nearly driving straight into a neutron star), but the trip was mainly smooth.

We arrived at Nibiru earlier than we expected. The planet had a very mixed climate, similar to your Earth. There was water, ice, forests, deserts, and marshes, but the majority of the planet was sandy and beachlike.

Temperature at arrival: 300 Kelvin (80 degrees Fahrenheit)
Climate: Somewhat dry
